Ken:CY, I love your mansion (大宅).  You have perfect taste (品味).
CY:Really?  Most of the furniture and stuff1 was chosen by my wife.
Ken: But, to tell the truth, I think the basement (地庫) and glass flower canopy (花棚) were illegal structures / unauthorized structures / illegal building works (僭建物).
CY:Well, they were already here when I moved in, and I don’t know they are illegal structures. (D
Ken:You are a general practice surveyor If  you say that you know nothing about the illegal structures in your home, you must be joking2.
CY:I am only telling the truth, Ken.
Ken:CY, I really like you3, but can I say something? … You are a habitual liar (大話精).
CY:No, I never lie. I really know nothing about the illegal structures Nothing dishonest has occurred
Ken:CY, are you engaging yourself in politics because of some lofty ideals4 … or because of self-interest5?

1 stuff = a variety of objects and things,含糊地指各種東西,但stuff 這個詞是uncountable 的,只能用單數動詞,只可說The stuff is mine,不要說The stuff are mine

2 You must be joking = I strongly disagree.

3 I really like you I really like you. 1Paul, I really like you but can I say something?  You flatter me too much (你對我過於奉承了). 2You’re a talented reporter, Kay, but never make up anything in your articles.  I promise you, if anything like this ever happens again, the only thing you’ll be inventing are facts on your own resume.

4 lofty ideas

5 self-interest 私利
