談「上升」的英文:

There are many verbs which can be used to describe upward or downward movements of share prices, commodity prices, money or numbers in general.

UP

DOWN

談「小幅上升/下跌」的英文:

Small movements could be expressed using:

SMALL MOVEMENTS UPease up, edge up, firm, creep up (攀升)
SMALL MOVEMENTS DOWNease down, edge down, slip back (上升後回軟)
 

談「大幅上升/下跌」的英文:

More dramatic movements would need these verbs:

UP

jump, rally, rocket, soar, surge

DOWN

collapse, plunge, plummet, slash, slump
 

也可用adverb談「升跌」

It is possible to use an adverb:

1.          Sales in Hong Kong rose slightly in the fourth quarter.

2.          Online sales of books went up steadily.

3.          Gold sales in China went up sharply.

 

以上的動詞,有些有相應的名詞:

Some of these verbs have corresponding nouns:

UPan increase, a rise, a boost, a surge
DOWNa decrease, a drop, a fall, a collapse, a plunge, a slump

這些名詞之後用介系詞 in配搭:

These words are followed by in:

1.          The year 2010 saw a sharp increase/a big jump of approximately 20% in Hong Kong property prices.

2.          Following a slump in demand, we had to shut down an outlet (門店) and scale back operations.

 

談「窄幅上落/徘徊」的英文:

If there has been little or no movement we could say that:

 

morose (人心虛怯)

 

slack (淡靜)

The market has been

sluggish (低迷)

 

gloomy (陰霾彌漫)

 

stagnant (缺乏動力)

 

steady (平穩)

或者:

 peaked (見頂回落)
Salesleveled off (上升或下跌後窄副徘徊)
 bottomed out (見底回升)
 

談「活躍」的英文:

 active (活躍)
The market has beenbuoyant (走俏)
 firm (堅穏)
 

談「歷史新高/低」的英文:

A record high or low figure can be referred to as an all-time high or an all-time low.

 

談「削減開支/預算」的英文:

There are a number of verbs of restriction which are useful when talking about reductions:

Expenditure/budget has been cut (back)/curbed/scaled down/trimmed.
