10月3日寫了一篇《會考英語作文- Paper 1B - 可以寫任何句子的以簡馭繁法(Simplify the Complicated)》,文中以waste為例,說明英文這種蟹行文字(橫寫的文字)在增加資料時,只會加在「前」或「後」,於是用一句口訣「前」「前前」「後」「後後」「前後」來表示英文八類詞不斷排列組合的現象和撰寫延伸句子的通則。(「前前」表示加在前面的資料很多)。抱歉得很,能力所限,總覺意有未盡,想再談一談。
句子可以很短:
Fish swim。
長一點:
The bright red fish‖swims swiftly and beautifully.再長一點
The bright red fish reared by John‖swims swiftly and beautifully in the aquarium.再長多一點
The bright red fish reared by John‖swims swiftly and beautifully in the aquarium, which was brought at 40% discount at an aquarium shop in Tung Choi Street.要加長句子,一定要有一些機制。英文加長句子的機制不勝枚舉,列舉一部分如下:
l 所有preposition (in, on, as, at等)( 用prepositional phrase 修飾名詞)
例如:The is a good skill. →This is a skill worth developing.
l 所有關係代名詞和疑問代名詞(who, where, when, which, how, that等)
例如:The boys played under the tree. →The boys played where the fallen leaves were deepest.
l 所有過去分詞(引出過去分詞片詞)
例如:The vase broken by Jimmy belonged to his teacher.
l 所有現在分詞(引出現在分詞片詞)
例如:They heard the window being broken.
l 所有gerund
例如:They practiced reading and answering questions about liberal studies.
l 用infinite phrase 修飾名詞例如:Hong Kong needs a good policy→Hong Kong needs a good policy to help the poor
l 同位語寫法
例如:In spite of Gods, a perceptive and witty book, is set to become….
l 用insertion
l Alex had a lunch with Stephy
| 以上各種延長法和學習the room for improvement或instead of等片語不同。學習the room for (improvement)和instead of是很實在的,雖然也會涉及上述的結構(任何英文都會涉及上述結構),但重點是學習the room for …和instead of本身。相反,上述的方法較虛空,重點有二。其一,鼓勵自己用不同結構寫句子。其二,鼓勵自己在閱讀時看穿句子即使長達十行也仍然是由八類詞的無窮排列組合形成,從而自己寫出好句。 |
