English Language – Paper 2 – Task 4 22 marks

Task 4要求你design a leaflet to give students tips on what they can do to use their brains more and make them stronger.

Data Filep.3 Ms. Young’s emailresults of a survey)、p.6Letter page from the Junior Post)和p.7Newspaper article from the Hong Kong Post)做。

(2Task 4考你理解題目、找尋和組織有關資料(和不寫無關資料)的能力Task 4Task 5要求的資料是頗相似的,但題目叫你看p.3 Mr. Youngemail,其中寫明:「just include tips on how to use your brain, and forget about other things like food and exercise.

Train your brain // Train Your Brain資料在Tape談了兩個Tips後轉來談Heading,較難。女聲:「I found this book of puzzles called Train Your Brain….」另一女聲:「Train Your Brain! That would be a good title for our leaflet.」(考評局報局:有考生將Train Your Brain寫成Change Your Brain。)
1.      Reason for training our brains: e.g. If we can train our brains, this will help us work well through our lives.女聲:「Just saying that we can train your brain and it can keep them working through all our lives, something like that, and here are some ideas for things to do.
2.      Here are some ideas for you.男聲:「Explain why we should do it and say here are some ideas for things to do.
女聲:「For the tips you are going to include, just make a list, I mean, in point form instead男聲:「So I will put a bullet point when I start each point.(以上的提示很重要,佔格式分兩分,你寫了sentence,便白費時間,影響其他部分不夠時間了。) Brain Power Club
Tips (每項0.5)
1.      Read (more ) books /newspaper /books and newspapersTape 的開頭女聲:「We should read more books and newspapers」,男聲重覆給你(送分題,但只有半分)
2.      Learn a (new) word every dayTape 的開頭女聲:「Learn a new word every day.」
3.      Throw away your calculators // do Math(s) / math(s) in your head談了Heading,女聲又轉回來談tips:「And I got another suggestion. Throw away your calculators. Do Maths in your head.」(男、女聲重覆說)(考評局報局:有考生將Throw away your calculators寫成Flow away your calculators.
之後,男聲說:「But, how are we going to start the leaflet?  We can just give people a list of things」(你要轉到Introduction的部分寫notes了。)
4.      Listen to music (and move at the same time)Date file p.6 6)原文:「Listening to music is helpful, but moving at the same time is even more helpful.」(注意:(1)要能找到這點,(2tense formgrammar可能要改一點,用紅色顯示。)
5.      Keep a journal (and write in it every day)Date file p.66 原文:「I kept a journal and wrote in it every day.
6.      Practice remembering by looking at old photos //keep your memory working by learning a poem or a song (every week)Date file p.66 原文:「I practiced remembering by looking at old photos and talking about them.Date file p.78 原文:「Keep your memory working by learning a poem or a song every week.
7.      Develop creativity by trying to imagine new ways to use everyday thingsDate file p.66 原文:「I developed my creativity by trying to imagine new ways to use everyday things, or inventing new things.
8.      Take part in debatesDate file p.6 6)原文:「Students should take part in debate.
9.      Practice concentrating on one thing for a few minutesDate file p.6 6)原文:「They should also practice concentrating on one thing for a few minutes every day.
10.  Do puzzle(s) every dayDate file p.6 7)原文:「…do one of our puzzles every day to keep your brain in top condition.
11.  Keep your brain alert by studying a new subject / learning a new skill / learning a new language / starting a new hobby / taking a different route to work / ordering something different for lunch (at least any 2 items)Date file p.7 8)原文:「The brain responds to something different.  To keep it alert, we can start a new hobby, study a new subject, learn a new skill or a new language.  Even something as simple as taking a different route to work or ordering something different for lunch can make a difference.
12.  Play games / card games, board games or video games (at least any 2 items)Date file p.7 8)原文:「Play games, any kind of games – card games, board games, even video games have been shown to improve brain functioning.
The Brain Power Club (每項0.5)
1.      At 4 (pm)女聲:「…and, after school, say, four o’clock?
2.      Every / on Thursday / Thu女聲:「Thursday seems to be the best day.」(考評局報局:有考生將Thursday寫成first day .男聲:「Are we going to meet every week?女聲:「I think we should meet very week, at least to start with.
3.      In the library (1-3 項要提及the meeting of the club)男聲:「I ask Ms. Wong if we can use the library.  She is going to check and get back to me.
4.      F.4 to F.7 (students) are welcome女聲:「The Club is open to F.4 to F.7.
5.      The aim of the club is to work together to train our brains女聲:「The aim of the Club is to work together to train our brains.」(整句跟Tape,不用改。
6.      Six copies of “Train Your Brain” // “Train your brain” for members (to borrow)指示來自Data Filep.4 Email from Ms. Young to Andy最後一句 –“The librarian has arranged to buy six copies of Train Your Brain for our members.  Why don’t you also include this in the leaflet? (請也看下文第8,有意見。)
7.      Contact by emailing to andylim@kgss.edu.hk女聲:「Would you be the contact, Andy?男聲:「Sure, I’ll put my email address at the end of the leaflet.」
8.      A statement to encourage people to try new ideas指示來自Data Filep.4 Email from Ms. Young to Andy – “Don't forget to finish the leaflet by encouraging people to try the new ideas.”(請也看上文第6。
